Hi. My name is Kathy Cole and I am proud to serve Fort Myers and the surrounding area as a Certified ISR Master Instructor!
I have been married to my husband, Steve, for 23 years and we have two amazing children, ages 21 and 17.
I first learned about ISR while living in Central Florida 13 years ago when I saw a friend's child swim-float-swimming confidently in our community pool. I immediately enrolled my daughter, who was just turning 2 at the time, in ISR lessons. She became an outstanding swimmer, and I have been an ISR advocate ever since.
Upon relocating to SWFL in 2006, I discovered that there were no ISR Instructors in the area. I really felt there was a critical need in this area for the ISR program, so I applied and interviewed to become an instructor, went to train in Orlando during summer 2007, and have been teaching ISR ever since!
My background includes a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Rollins College as well as a Master's Degree in Health Services Administration from UCF. Additionally, I maintain certification in CPR, First Aid and AED. I am passionate about teaching ISR Self-Rescue® skills, and there is nothing more rewarding than making a difference in the life of a child. The confidence that I see grow in my students throughout lessons always makes me smile.
In the Fall of 2010, I was selected by ISR to become a Master Instructor Candidate. After completing an extensive development program with a Senior Master Instructor and supervised trainings of 3 new ISR instructors, I became a Certified Master Instructor in September 2012. This means that I am now able to train and mentor other new ISR instructors. In recent years, I have had the pleasure of training many new instructors from the US as well as from Brazil and Trinidad. I am honored to be part of such an awesome organization!
Infant Swimming Resource is an extremely effective drowning prevention program and I am proud to be part of a team of individuals whose mission it is to keep babies and children safe in and around the water by teaching them to be aquatic problem-solvers. Our children are so precious to us and it is our job as parents to be diligent in keeping them safe. I look forward to working with each of your little ones and teaching them a love for the water as well as very necessary swimming and self-rescue® skills!
