Hi. My name is Kathy Cole and I am proud to serve Fort Myers and the surrounding area as an ISR Senior Master Instructor Candidate!
I have been married to my husband, Steve, for 24 years and we have two amazing children, ages 23 and 18.
I first learned about ISR while living in Central Florida 16 years ago when I saw a friend's child swim-float-swimming confidently in our community pool. I immediately enrolled my daughter, who was just turning 2 at the time, in ISR lessons. She became an outstanding swimmer, and I have been an ISR advocate ever since.
Upon relocating to SWFL in 2006, I discovered that there were no ISR Instructors in the area. I really felt there was a critical need in this area for the ISR program, so I applied and interviewed to become an instructor, went to train in Orlando during summer 2007, and have been teaching ISR ever since!
My background includes a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Rollins College as well as a Master's Degree in Health Services Administration from UCF. Additionally, I maintain certification in CPR, First Aid and AED. I am passionate about teaching ISR Self-Rescue® skills, and there is nothing more rewarding than making a difference in the life of a child. The confidence that I see grow in my students throughout lessons always makes me smile.
In the Fall of 2010, I was selected by ISR to become a Master Instructor Candidate. After completing an extensive development program with a Senior Master Instructor and supervised trainings of 3 new ISR instructors, I became a Certified Master Instructor in September 2012. This means that I am now able to train and mentor other new ISR instructors. In recent years, I have had the pleasure of training many new instructors from across the US as well as from Brazil and Trinidad.
In September of 2018, I was chosen to become a Senior Master Instructor Candidate which means I am being developed to become a Senior Master Instructor and will be mentoring new Master Instructor Candidates as they learn to train new instructors. I am honored to be given this leadership role in this amazing organization whose mission it is that "Not One More Child Drowns".
Infant Swimming Resource is an extremely effective drowning prevention program and I am proud to be part of a team of individuals whose mission it is to keep babies and children safe in and around the water by teaching them to be aquatic problem-solvers. Our children are so precious to us and it is our job as parents to be diligent in keeping them safe. I look forward to working with each of your little ones and teaching them a love for the water as well as very necessary swimming and self-rescue® skills!
